FAQ
Questions from business owners
Setup, hardware, payments, deposits, staff and finding new work. Can’t find yours? Send us a message from the contact page.
Getting started
About three minutes for the setup itself. You verify your email, tell us your business type, add your address and phone, choose how you take cards, and pick a register style. Then add your items by typing them, importing a spreadsheet or scanning a photo of your menu.
No. Your phone or tablet is the register. Customers can pay with Tap to Pay on Android phones, by scanning a QR code, through a payment link, in cash or by Zelle. A receipt printer, cash drawer or card reader is optional.
The apps are free to download and set up. Any fees on card payments are shown in the app, under Business & payments, before you take your first card.
Selling in person? Start with nearvise Payments. Billing for jobs? nearvise Invoice. Want to know your customers? Add nearvise CRM. Need something done yourself? The nearvise app. They all use the same account, so you can add one later.
Yes. When you sign up for nearvise Payments or nearvise Invoice you get a website for your business, free and with hosting included. It’s built from your items, can take orders for pickup, delivery or shipping, and has buttons to join your waitlist or book a time.
If you have more than a dozen or so items, or they fall into groups like drinks and food, use categories. A short list — a market stall, a food truck with six items — works best as one simple grid. You can switch at any time.
Yes. The apps can be used in English or Spanish.
Taking payments
Tap to Pay (contactless cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay tapped on your phone), QR code checkout, payment links by text or email, a Stripe Reader M2 for chip and swipe on tablets, cash, Zelle, invoices with online payment, and orders from your nearvise website.
Tap to Pay works today on Android phones with NFC running Android 11 or later. Tap to Pay on iPhone is coming soon. On iPhone you can already take cards with QR code checkout and payment links — no reader needed.
Tap to Pay, QR codes and payment links don’t need a card inserted. If your customers want to insert or swipe, pair a Stripe Reader M2 with an iPad or Android tablet.
Yes. Cash sales keep working offline and sync automatically when you reconnect. Card payments need a connection.
Turn tips on in Register Setup and choose three suggested percentages. Customers can pick a tip on screen before paying, or you can print a tip line on the receipt and add the tip afterwards.
Find the sale by its receipt number or scan the QR code on the receipt, then refund all or part of it. Card refunds go back to the card through Stripe.
Yes. Link your existing Stripe account during setup and Stripe pays you directly, on your Stripe schedule.
Deposits
Card sales from the 1st–14th are deposited on the 1st of the next month, and sales from the 15th to the end of the month on the 15th of the next month. Daily deposits are available for a small per-deposit fee. Allow 3–4 business days for your bank to show it, and 6–7 days for your first deposit.
Yes. Deposits in the app shows each deposit line by line — what customers paid, refunds, fees and the amount sent to your bank — and every sale in it.
Staff, printers & more
Yes. Invite staff by email; they join with your store code and a verified phone. Staff can ring up sales and clock in and out, but can’t see reports, deposits, customers or payment settings. You can make someone a host, so their app opens to the waitlist.
Star Micronics receipt printers such as the mC-Print3, any ESC/POS network printer by IP address, or AirPrint. A cash drawer plugged into a Star or network printer opens on cash sales.
Yes. Build a website in five steps with a live preview. Customers order for pickup, delivery or shipping and pay by card, and orders appear in your app. With auto-print on, they print at the register.
Not directly yet. From your website settings you can request a connection to the delivery apps, and we’ll set it up with an integration partner.
Finding new work
Yes. People nearby post jobs and questions in the nearvise app. With a nearvise Payments or Invoice business account, Find work shows open posts that match what you do, and you can send a quote.
Yes. Business profiles are public, so the customer can see who is quoting. The customer stays anonymous until they accept a quote.
